Martha Gershun is a nonprofit consultant, writer, and community volunteer. In 2018 she donated a kidney at the Mayo Clinic to a woman she read about in the newspaper.

At age 57, Emma, the artist’s sister, died from an opiate overdose. Emma had struggled with drugs and alcohol for most of her life.
