Announcing Colorado Child Health Research Institute, 6-18-24

Dear students, faculty and staff,

We are thrilled to share the launch of the Colorado Child Health Research Institute, a partnership announced earlier today that will serve as the administrative, scientific and operational home for child health research across the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Research is at the heart of our mission and foundational to delivering patient-centered care to those we serve. Through the collaboration of cross-campus multidisciplinary teams, our campus has a long history of advancing groundbreaking research that has led to improved clinical care and better health outcomes for people across the lifespan. The Colorado Child Health Research Institute will build on more than 50 years of partnership to elevate the work we do in pediatric health and further position our research enterprise on a national scale to reach more children, families and communities than ever before.

The new institute will bring together experts from our schools and college and Children’s Colorado to solve the most challenging questions in child health. With expertise spanning pediatrics, geriatrics and everything in between, our researchers are uniquely equipped to drive progress in life course research and speed advancements in clinical care. The Colorado Child Health Research Institute will continue to enhance administrative and operational efficiencies for investigators so they can focus primarily on science, with the goal of more rapid translation of discoveries to patients.

Please join me in thanking CU School of Medicine Dean John J. Reilly, Jr., MD, and Children’s Hospital Colorado President and CEO Jena Hausmann for their tremendous partnership on this endeavor. We are grateful to Chief Scientific Officer for Child Health Ronald Sokol, MD, Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Services & Controller Amy Gannon, and Children’s Colorado Vice President for Research Operations Jenae Neiman, RN, MBA, for their leadership and collaboration, and to the many incredible individuals who have helped make the Colorado Child Health Research Institute possible.

Together, through our campus partnership and shared commitment to child health research, we are accelerating discovery to improve the lives of children ‒ and the adults they will become.

Sincerely,

Don Elliman
Chancellor
