Announcing Vice Chancellor of Research, 2-26-20

Dear colleagues,

We are happy to announce the appointment of Thomas Flaig, MD, as vice chancellor of research for CU Denver | Anschutz, effective March 1, 2020. Dr. Flaig has been serving as interim vice chancellor of research since last August.

Since arriving at the University of Colorado as an oncology fellow in 2003, Dr. Flaig has been a passionate leader and advocate for the advancement of research and translation of discoveries from the lab to the clinic and elsewhere. As interim vice chancellor, he has worked to ensure that our research efforts are as streamlined, interconnected, and efficient as possible, all while expanding research activity and partnerships.

As vice chancellor of research, Dr. Flaig will be responsible for the direction and advocacy of the research endeavors of both the Anschutz and Denver campuses. In collaboration with the deans’ offices and faculty leadership, his office will ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to research activity. It will also help the campuses meet emerging research opportunities by building faculty involvement in program project grants, enhancing interdisciplinary and collaborative opportunities, and otherwise supporting the campuses’ research enterprise.

We are grateful for Dr. Flaig’s leadership and eager to see our research initiatives continue to flourish under his direction.

Sincerely,

Don Elliman
Chancellor, CU Anschutz Medical Campus

Dorothy Horrell
