Dear students, faculty and staff,
We write to share that the findings from this spring’s Campus & Workplace Culture (CWC) Pulse Survey are available online. Our gratitude goes to all of those who took time to share their experiences through this effort.
The goal of the CWC Pulse Survey was to gauge areas of improvement and areas needing continued focus, following our comprehensive CWC Survey in fall 2021.
A Strong Response
We received a strong response to the CWC Pulse Survey, with over 3,200 students, trainees, faculty and staff taking part. Because School of Medicine faculty and residents had been surveyed earlier in the year, they were not asked to complete the CWC Pulse Survey. We are, however, considering responses to the School of Medicine survey effort alongside our current results as we implement action plans campuswide.
Using the link below, you can explore the 2024 CWC Pulse Survey data, read an executive summary, and find data from the full 2021 CWC Survey. Participant privacy has been of utmost importance throughout our survey efforts and strict safeguards continue to protect that privacy in our survey reporting. Should you have questions about survey data, please contact cwcsurvey@cuanschutz.edu.
Key Takeaways
While survey tools are in no way perfect barometers of campus culture, they do offer a valuable snapshot of change over time. We were heartened to see significant improvements in some important areas between our 2021 and 2024 CWC Survey efforts - specifically, a notable rise in students reporting positive social climate in their programs and a similar increase in employees reporting a positive workplace culture.
However, the data also demonstrates that there is more work to do if we are to achieve our goals of making CU Anschutz the best place it can be for all members of our community. In particular, we must address differences among reported experiences of members of different demographic groups on our campus. We must also continue doing all we can to foster a strong sense of community - an area we are focusing on with the recently launched campuswide connection initiative and A Place To Connect effort.
Next Steps
We are using the insights gained through the CWC Survey and complementary unit-level survey efforts to drive action planning across our campus to help us achieve a more just, supportive and equitable culture. You can expect another comprehensive CWC Survey during the 2025-2026 academic year, and we will share more as that effort nears.
Exceptional people make CU Anschutz the special place that it is. You are our greatest strength, and we are committed to making our campus an enriching and rewarding community - and a place to grow and thrive.
