Chancellor's Communique
Cancellation of In-Person Spring Commencement Activities, 3-18-20
Dear CU Anschutz Students, Families, Faculty and Staff:
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, we have made the difficult decision to cancel in-person commencement ceremonies scheduled for May 21 and May 22, 2020.
While we know this news will be very disappointing, we feel it is a necessary step to help ensure the health and safety of our campus community, graduates, families and alumni.
As the scale of this situation continues to change rapidly,
developing plans that help ensure the safety of all who are a part of these celebrations is paramount. The CU Anschutz Medical Campus is strong because of its people - our students, faculty, staff, families and community members - and your health and
well-being are our top priority.
In collaboration with the provost, deans and leadership of our schools and college, we are exploring various options that will enable our community to celebrate the Class of 2020 CU Anschutz graduates remotely,
and we will follow up with more information and details as these plans develop.
While we deeply regret having to make this decision, we look forward to celebrating our longstanding commencement traditions in innovative ways, and to welcoming
our newest class of graduates into our alumni community with great pride, confidence and joy.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate this truly extraordinary time to find a fitting way to celebrate our graduates and alumni.
