Leadership Statement

Celebrating Pride 2022, 6-7-22

Dear students, faculty and staff,

Pride Month offers an opportunity to uplift the LGBTQ+ community, honor those who have fought and continue to fight for equal rights, and celebrate the diverse voices who enrich our campus community today and every day.

Over the month of June, a host of events and activities are taking place on campus and off that elevate the visibility of our LGBTQ+ community. From fun and games to educational opportunities and resources, here are some of the many ways to take part in Pride Month at CU Anschutz:

  • June 8 - June 29: Virtual weekly LGBTQ+ Hub Pride Education Series on the history of the LGBTQ+ community, unconscious bias, allyship and health disparities.
  • June 23: CU Anschutz Pride Day Celebration with food trucks, lawn games and more & CU Pride Month T-Shirt Pickup at the LGBTQ+ Hub.
  • June 25 - 26: CU @ Denver Pride including Pride 5K, PrideFest and Pride Parade.
  • June 1 - 30: Eye to Eye: Portraits of Pride, Strength, Beauty exhibit at the Center for Bioethics and Humanities.
  • Learn more about these and other Pride Month events on the LGBTQ+ Hub website.

In addition to Pride 2022 activities, the LGBTQ+ Hub and the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement offers training and resources all year long for interested individuals, departments and schools. You can also find the LGBTQ+ Hub’s LibGuide featuring recommended articles, books, media and other resources on the Strauss Health Sciences Library website.

As we recognize the progress made toward equality and equity for the LGBTQ+ community, we also acknowledge that many individuals continue to face discrimination and violence. There is work to be done, and at CU Anschutz we strive to shape positive change on our campus and in our communities.

We invite you to join us in celebrating and supporting the diverse identities within the LGBTQ+ community, and helping make our campus an inclusive and welcoming environment all year long.

Happy Pride 2022,
