CHANCELLOR'S COMMUNIQUE

Campus Health Center, 8-27-2015

Dear colleagues,

I’m excited to announce plans to open a Campus Health Center to meet our students’ health and wellness needs, slated to open mid-September.

All CU Anschutz students will be eligible to receive care at the center. To meet students’ varied and tight schedules, the clinic will be conveniently located on campus — in the Anschutz Health and Wellness Building at Montview and Racine (second floor) — and will have extended hours including weekday evenings and Saturdays.

The center will offer integrated physical and behavioral health care, provided by board-certified nurse practitioners. The service delivery and design is being led by Amy Barton, professor and associate dean for clinical and community affairs at the College of Nursing.

The center will eventually be open to all members of the campus community, with priority for appointments given to students. Services are designed to be convenient, affordable, and accessible. The Campus Health Center will accept insurance from a variety of providers, including the CU Student Health Insurance Plans A and B, private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare.

The initiative has been underway for several months, thanks to the tireless efforts of these individuals, among many:

  • Heidi L. Armbruster, Manager, Business Development and Planning, University Physicians, Inc. and School of Medicine
  • Amy J. Barton, Professor, Daniel & Janet Mordecai Rural Health Nursing Endowed Chair and Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs, College of Nursing
  • Raul Cardenas, Jr., Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
  • Stefannie Emerson, Vice President, Business Development and Planning, University Physicians, Inc. and School of Medicine
  • Regina Kilkenny, Associate Vice Chancellor, Academic Resources and Services
  • LaVerne Loechel, Manager, Student Insurance Office, Student Affairs
  • Chelsea Mitchell, student, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • John Moore, Associate Dean, Finance and Administration, College of Nursing
  • Jeffrey D. Parker, Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance
  • Heather Ponicsan, student, College of Nursing and Colorado School of Public Health
  • Veronica B. Searles Quick, student, School of Medicine
  • Luciana M. Smith, Clinic Director, Anschutz Health and Wellness Center
  • Mary Weber, Associate Professor, Endowed Professor in Psychiatric Nursing

As a medical campus, our students’ health is particularly important to us. The new Campus Health Center will allow our students to have their health needs met conveniently and affordably. Watch for more details as we get closer to the center’s opening.

Best,
Don Elliman
Chancellor
