New Chief Communications Officer, 6-19-2018

Dear colleagues,

The CU Anschutz Medical Campus has a tremendous story to tell: one of groundbreaking research, world-class faculty educating a talented student body, excellent clinical care and a bold vision for the future. I am delighted to announce that today, with the appointment of Kathy Green as our new chief communications officer, we are one step closer to telling that story to the world.

A seasoned communications professional, Kathy brings more than 25 years of experience in multi-disciplinary marketing and communications, strategic planning and partnership development. As communications director for Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, she successfully redesigned and rebuilt that office's communications division. The governor had this to say about her: "Kathy's consistent grace, wit and intelligence, which had such a positive effect on everybody at the governor's office, will undoubtedly serve CU Anschutz well. It's great to see someone so talented join an institution that's doing so much to improve health throughout Colorado."

Kathy has been a communications consultant since leaving the governor's office last year. She previously served as communications and marketing director for the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Colorado Tourism Office and in various communications roles for the City of Denver under then-Mayor Hickenlooper. She has worked in public relations agencies and started her career with University Hospital in Chicago.

We are excited to have Kathy join our team and bring a new perspective, energy and focus to this critical role. She will join us on July 16, part-time while she wraps up her work with her current clients, and will shift to full-time on September 1.

With recent years of record-breaking research and philanthropic support, enrollment and innovation, CU Anschutz has built a strong foundation and gathered true momentum -- and we are well poised to take giant steps forward. Kathy is the right person at the right time to help our growing campus continue to build its reputation, brand and visibility as a leading academic medical center: where anyone who needs it can get the finest care in the world, where the science of that care is being pushed to new horizons, and where we train and prepare the health workforce for the future.
