A Message from Chancellor Elliman
Keeping Our Campus Moving Forward
Another wave of COVID-19 has hit our state, and as we shared this week,
we are committed to doing everything within our power to remain safe, open and operational. To do so, we need your continued vigilance.
While we must be prepared for adjustments to our operations in the event of another stay-at-home order, we
are not anticipating a decrease in current on-campus activity at this time. Adjustments to clinical and community-based research, or scheduling and logistics, may be considered, and we will communicate any such changes as needed. Please continue
to look for campus communications as public health orders can change quickly. For now, we continue to adhere to our guiding principle that any work that can be done remotely will continue to be done remotely.
Our community has done
an outstanding job in the face of this historic health crisis, and your partnership will be essential as we make our way through the coming months.

Accessible & Convenient COVID-19 Testing: New Option For Asymptomatic Testing
CU Anschutz is pleased to offer our campus community asymptomatic testing starting next week through a partnership with COVIDCheckColorado. For those with no COVID-19 symptoms or known exposure, asymptomatic testing is a quick and easy
option. Better still, it’s free of charge through December 31.
- We are bringing this new testing option to all our students, faculty and staff, as well as members of your household including children 12 and older.
- Two testing locations will be available, with limited days/hours starting 11/18 - one on campus in Education 1, and another at an Aurora drive-through location.
- Pre-booking will be required, and you can schedule your tests online.
- More details to come next week.
Asymptomatic testing is available only to those who are not showing any symptoms of COVID-19, and who have had no known exposure to anyone with the disease.
If you have symptoms or believe you may have been exposed, stay home and self-report, and await further instruction from the CU Anschutz
Occupational Health and Contact Tracing team.
Let's Lead By Example: Stick With What Works For Health & Safety
Here are some of the actions you can take to keep yourself and others healthy and safe:
- Follow Governor Polis’s advice, and interact with only those in your household.
- Keep your distance. On campus, take breaks and eat meals alone, unless you can maintain 6 feet of distance from others.
- Wear a mask at all times.
- Follow on-campus screening and safety protocols.
- Clinical faculty and staff should ensure they are familiar with the different policies and protocols in place within healthcare facilities vs higher education facilities. Follow hospital protocols when working at clinical facilities, and university protocols when working at CU Anschutz facilities.
- Stay home and self-report if there is any chance you may be sick or may have been exposed to someone who is ill.
- Get your flu shot if you haven’t already. Call the Campus Health Center at 303-724-6242, or find another vaccine location convenient for you.
Campus Check-in & Screening: New Hensel-Phelps Route + Holiday Hours
Beginning Monday 11/16, those checking in for screening at the Hensel-Phelps location will be re-routed through the auditoriums to help regulate temperature at the checkpoint. Enter through the main door, and follow posted signage to get checked in and on your way. Please remember to wear your mask and always maintain a minimum of 6 feet between you and others proceeding through the screening site.
Starting 11/25 and through the holidays, campus check-in locations will operate on adjusted holiday schedules.

- Please note that during after-hours self-check-in timeframes, you are still required to complete the daily health questionnaire and take your temperature with the thermometer provided at the check-in location.
Changes at the Strauss Health Sciences Library: What You Need to Know
In response to the recent Adams County public health order, including a 10 p.m. curfew, there are some important changes at the library:
- Hours: 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily.
- Study rooms: Students must study inside a room and reserve a study room ahead of time or risk being turned away. Only one person is allowed per room.
- Common space: No common space usage is permitted unless it is at designated computer terminals with specific software.
- Masks: Masks must be worn at all times, including when in rooms alone.
- Questions: Community Advocates are staffing the library to help ensure compliance. They can answer questions and connect students to study rooms. Note that those found to be out of compliance with the campus safety guidance will be referred to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and their school/college/program for possible disciplinary action.
