COVID-19 & the CU Anschutz Community
This week, the CDC released new recommendations on options for
reducing quarantine times for those who have been exposed to a COVID-19-positive individual but who have not developed any symptoms of COVID-19. The new guidance offers state and county health departments the option of reducing the current 14-day quarantine standard to 7 days with a negative test or 10 days without testing, if no
symptoms have developed.
The decision on whether and when to implement the new guidance is up to local health authorities. At this time, neither CDPHE nor Tri-County Health Department have adopted the optional change. At CU Anschutz,
our 14-day quarantine protocol remains in effect for those exposed. We will communicate any future changes to this timeframe if/when they are made.
If you have been exposed to a COVID-19-positive individual, within 6 feet or less for
a cumulative total of 15 or more minutes over a 24-hour period, self-report your status.
All CU Anschutz employees and students, as well as household members including minors, have options for free COVID-19 testing through December 31, depending on whether you:
*COVID-19 symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea.
Please remember that if you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed, you must self-report your status.
