Jun 12, 2024On Thursday, April 25, 32 guests gathered at the Denver Country Club to celebrate the Richard Brown/Annie Moore, MD, Endowed Chair Fund for Excellence in the Patient-Physician Relationship and the inaugural chairholder, Dr. Annie Moore.
Dr. Moore is a professor of clinical medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado, and the endowed chair fund serves to honor her years of work focused on the clinical care experience of patients. The fund was established thanks to generous gifts from Richard N. Brown and other benefactors, including Marcy and Bruce Benson and Mary and George Sissel.
Todd Saliman, president of the University of Colorado, opened the morning’s remarks and shared how inspiring it was to be with so many people who are dedicated to making an impact on health and medicine and ensuring that the School of Medicine has top-tier faculty.
“Endowed chairs are crucially important for the University,” shared Mr. Saliman. “They make it possible for us to attract and retain incredible talent who are vanguards in their respective fields.”
Following Mr. Saliman’s remarks, Chancellor Don Elliman offered his gratitude to the Browns, Sissels and Bensons and introduced Dr. Moore.
“Competition for top talent is increasingly fierce among academic medical centers like ours, and private philanthropic support strengthens our ability to invest in the next generation of emerging leaders in medicine,” said Chancellor Elliman. “It is a privilege to honor Dr. Annie Moore’s years of groundbreaking work focused on the clinical care experience of patients and helping patients reach their health goals.”
After comments from Dr. Moore and from benefactors Marcy Benson and Richard Brown, Chancellor Elliman presented Dr. Moore with a medallion that symbolizes the honor of holding an endowed chair and her excellence as a distinguished faculty leader.
The presentation ended with guests raising a glass to toast Dr. Moore and the invaluable work she will continue to do to improve the patient-physician relationship.
