The Ludeman Center’s extensive research on understanding reduced exercise capacity in men and women with Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has drawn national attention and substantial National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding, including recent support for the creation of non-invasive imaging techniques that deliver precise data on the metabolic response to exercise in skeletal muscle. Through the support this endowed chair will provide, Dr. Reusch – a distinguished physician-scientist known for her pioneering diabetes research and exceptional patient care – and the Center aim to develop treatments that lower cardiovascular risks in those with T2D, enhancing longevity and independence.
Additional resources from this chair will provide financial aid for students, research expenditures, participation in conferences, curriculum development and other initiatives as prioritized by Dr. Reusch.
This meaningful gift will speed progress toward leading-edge diabetes research and treatment for the improvement of patient lives in Colorado and beyond and would not have been possible without the generosity of the Patten-Davis Foundation and the partnership of the Ludeman Center and Elizabeth Hepworth in the Office of Advancement.
