Education

Drawing on decades of experience, Center faculty integrate bioethics and health humanities content for health professional learners in a variety of different programs and at different stages of educational development. Center faculty deploy expertise in instructional design to build individual sessions, modules, courses, and entire programs and curricula. For example, the Center helped fashion the concept for the Trails in the CU School of Medicine. Each of the five Trails offers almost 100 hours of content spread across two 2-week intensives and a semi-customizable asynchronous phase. Few medical schools facilitate such a deep dive, and Center faculty helped design the Trail concept itself as well as lead a Trail specifically focused on Bioethics & Humanities.

Beyond the School of Medicine, Center faculty work with learners in the School of Public Health, the Graduate School, the School of Pharmacy, and many other programs and units across the Anschutz Medical Campus. Clinical learning is an area of growth for the Center’s education work, and the Center is excited to build on its leadership role in policy education and training, in graduate medical education, and in clinical ethics education for working health professionals.

The Center advances a deep commitment to community outreach and education not only through its Arts and Humanities in Healthcare Program, but also through its Certificate Program in Bioethics and Health Humanities. The Certificate is open to learners beyond the Anschutz Medical Campus, bringing its world-class faculty and teaching experience to the broader Front Range community.
