The rental of regalia for faculty members is paid for by the university. MD regalia is covered by the School of Medicine.

All MD graduate regalia will be distributed on campus prior to the day of commencement. Home shipping is not available for this degree. Similarly, faculty must pick up regalia on campus.

Shipping: The rate for shipping regalia to your home domestically is $18.10 if ordered by the April 9 deadline and includes a return shipping label for the gown (and hood if applicable). International shipping is available for $37.35 to most destinations.

Caps and tassels are yours to keep. All rented gowns and hoods must be returned within 7-10 days of the ceremony to avoid charges.

Herff Jones is CU Anschutz's official regalia provider for our in-person commencement ceremonies. All academic regalia worn by graduates in the ceremonies must be provided by Herff Jones or approved by the commencement coordinator in advance of the ordering deadline.

All MD graduates and faculty members must register and order regalia no later than 9:59 p.m. MDT on April 9.

For all other graduates, registration is a two-step process requiring graduates to first register to attend the ceremonies and then place a regalia order. Both must be completed by April 9 to avoid additional fees. After the initial deadline, online orders may be placed until 9:59 p.m. MDT on May 1 with expedited home shipping being the only option.

A $30 late fee is applied to all graduate rental orders placed during cap and gown distribution on campus.

Home-shipped orders (available to all but MD grads and faculty) should be received at least three days prior to the ceremony.

All other graduates will be given the option to pick up regalia on campus on May 15/16 or pay an additional fee ($18.10) to have it shipped prior to the ceremonies.

 

 

Items distributed on campus will be available to pick up on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. in Ed 2 North 1304.

Home-shipped regalia orders will arrive within 30 days from the date when you place your order, and at least three days prior to the ceremony.

Announcements and fine paper accessories will arrive to your home within 21 days from the date you place your order.

Diploma frames are estimated to arrive in 5-7 weeks from the date you place your order.

Class rings are estimated to arrive in 12-14 weeks, but varies based on product selection and the shipping location.

 

Yes, all gowns and hoods are to be returned to Herff Jones within 10 days of the ceremony. Items not received by Herff Jones 30 days after the ceremony will be considered a purchase and the following amounts will be charged to the card on file.

Undergraduate students must return only their gown. Graduate students must return their gown and hood. All students may keep their cap/tam and tassel.

Return instructions along with a pre-paid return label will be included with home-shipped orders. Regalia will be collected on campus immediately following the ceremonies and can be returned this way whether it was shipped to you or not.

The American Council on Education's Academic Costume Code lists the colors allocated to the various fields of learning that have been largely standardized by the Intercollegiate Bureau of Academic Costume.

Cords typically recognize academic achievement but may also connote group affiliation. Stoles are more likely to represent a student's affiliation in a club, organization, or community.

CU Anschutz generally permits accessories such as cords and stoles to be worn in our ceremonies. However, all new accessories must receive approval from the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.

Please submit any requests for new regalia accessories to the Commencement Office.

Regalia and accessories (i.e. stoles, souvenir tassels) are eligible for a refund as long as they are unopened and unused. Refunds should be requested no more than two weeks following the ceremony date.

Diploma frames can be refunded as long as the request is made within 30 days of receipt. Return shipping is the responsibility of the customer. The refund will be issued once the frame is received by Herff Jones.

Sales of announcements and announcement accessories (i.e. tissue inserts) are non-refundable.

Class ring sales are non-refundable.

All shipping and handling costs are considered non-refundable.

Any product found to have a manufacturing or material defect will be refunded or replace by Herff Jones.

Due to the high volume of transactions that Herff Jones processes during graduation time, expect to receive refunds approximately 8-10 weeks after the returned item has been received by Herff Jones. 

Herff Jones has the ability to ship outside of the US using FedEx International. International shipping is $37.35.

There are no air shipment options for international addresses. Some international shipping requests may be rejected if it is determined that there would be a high likelihood of product loss by sending out the order. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Shipping is not an option for MD graduates or faculty.

Faculty have their own registration site that does not charge for regalia rental. Check back here in mid-February for the link.

The deadline for faculty to register and receive hoods specific to an alma mater is 9:59pm MDT on April 9. After this date, orders must be placed at distribution on May 15/16 and will be filled from the bulk supply on hand. All hoods will contain CU colors only.
