Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Chief Financial Officer, CU Anschutz

As Executive Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance, Terri C. Carrothers oversees a multitude of university functions in departments, including dual campus leadership personnel for Facilities, Financial Services, Bursar, Grants and Contracts, Information Strategy and Services. 

Carrothers also serves directly as the Chief Financial Officer for CU Anschutz Medical Campus, where she also oversees the Budget Office, including business & campus strategy and quality control, Human Resources, CU Anschutz Police and Emergency Services, and the Institutional Planning Office. She is responsible for a budget of more almost $3 billion and plays an integral role in the ongoing development of the University’s many programs and initiatives.  

Carrothers began her career with the University of Colorado in 1978 within University of Colorado Hospital, known at that time as Colorado General Hospital, and has worked for CU in a variety of administrative capacities since. 

In 1990, she became the administrator for the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where she was also directly responsible for the management and growth of a large, diverse clinical practice at UC Hospital. In 2008, Carrothers was appointed Assistant Dean/Chief of Staff to the Dean of the CU School of Medicine, and also served as Director of Finance and Administration for the Department of Medicine during a portion of this time.                

Carrothers was promoted in 2010 to Associate Dean for Administration and Finance of the School of Medicine, while retaining her Chief of Staff role. In these positions, she was responsible for the school’s finances, budget, human resources, procurement, communications, information technology, business intelligence, project management and administration activities. 

As the financial representative on various boards and committees, Carrothers contributes the invaluable perspective and understanding of the inner-workings of CU cultivated throughout her long history with the institution. She prioritizes and enjoys spending time with her family, and also pursuing left brain activities.
