Clay Smith, MD is a Professor in the Division of Hematology at the University of Colorado (CU), the Medical Director of CU Innovations and served as the Director of the Blood Disorders and Cell Therapies Center at UCHealth and CU for over a decade. He has been a physician/scientist at Sloan Kettering, Duke, Moffitt and the BC Cancer Agency and served in a variety of clinical, translational science and clinical trials leadership positions. His research has focused on developing novel therapies for blood cancers using omics technologies integrated with clinical data and cutting-edge computational tools. He has authored >160 manuscripts, received dozens of grants, holds numerous patents, has helped found several companies and has received a number of awards including being the inaugural recipient of the CU Department of Medicine Innovator of the Year award. He is currently the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of the oncology pharma start-up OncoVerity and the Chief Innovation Officer and co-founder of the precision medicine company RefinedScience.
