CU Innovations Office aims to meet industry partner needs through a streamlined and collaborative licensing process. CU’s dual goals are to generate a fair financial return for the university, supporting research and incentivizing technology commercialization, and to maximize the real-world impact of CU technologies. CU shares commercialization risk by setting reasonable initial licensing fees and receiving royalties and milestone payments only when products are developed and sold.
CU has exclusive licenses currently in effect with industry partners, and non-exclusive licenses in effect. CU executed some 50 new licenses and options in fiscal year 2013-14, with industry partners ranging from new startup companies to multinational pharmaceutical companies. Successful licensing agreements with CU have led to the development of (most recently approved drugs) and numerous medical devices and diagnostic technologies.
