The CU Pre-Health Scholars Program (CUPS) serves scholars from middle school and high school grades 6th through 12th. It is an academic enrichment and integrative support program designed to build cultural confidence and expose first-generation, underrepresented, and low-income students to high-impact events, research, STEAM, and Healthcare careers while preparing our scholars to be competitive applicants for post-secondary education and matriculate into a professional health career program or graduate school program.

Scholars participate in once-a-month Saturday Academy during the academic year and annually in the summer intensive session. Our application is open to any student in Colorado from 6th through 12th grade. We prioritize students from Title 1 Aurora Public Schools and Denver Public Schools who identify as first-generation students or students with financial need.

CUPS Application

Any student in Colorado entering grades 6-12 interested in healthcare, research, and STEAM may apply to the CUPS program. Our program prioritizes admissions to first-generation college students and students with financial need in Aurora Public Schools (APS) and Denver Public Schools (DPS) designated Title 1.

Our application is open from August 1 to December 1 annually. Students accepted into our program are notified by the end of January each year and onboarded by the end of February. Accepted students are inducted and become scholars in May, and the program starts in June.

Scholars who remain active in the program will automatically matriculate the following year. Those who do not will need to reapply.

Additional Opportunities for K-12 Students

The Community Engagement Office offers career exploration and science exposure opportunities for students of all ages, from elementary school to graduate school. To request an activity, please use the forms below. Please note that we depend on the availability of campus partners and content experts. We cannot guarantee your request will be fulfilled. The more time we have for planning, the better, but we require two months' advance notice. All requests must be for groups of students associated with a school or educational program, not single students.

Please submit a general inquiry if you cannot find what you need in the forms below.

Our office can offer a limited number of sponsored career exploration days for *qualifying schools and programs throughout the year .  During these visits, students will hear from different academic programs, participate in at least one hands-on activity, and engage with a panel of current CU students and professionals.  Career Exploration Days are scheduled from 10 am - 2 pm on a mutually agreed upon date.  This activity is most appropriate for high schoolers, and we ask that group sizes be capped at 25 students (not including school chaperones).  *Qualifying Schools/Programs: this has been defined as an institution, school, or program serving a majority of students/participants from backgrounds underrepresented in the health sciences (60%+) and/or a majority of students receiving free or reduced lunch (60%+).
