• The primary objective is to provide immediate classroom security (i.e., locking the entry doors) and restricting access to Police only.
• Immediately alert the CU Anschutz Police Department (CUPD) of an incident requiring police assistance.

Upon initiation of a classroom alarm, the system will:

• Display a critical message on the Police Dispatcher console, including the building and room number.
• Dispatch will immediately dispatch a Police Officer to the room.
• Lock all doors in all classrooms in the building and all security doors in other areas of the building.
• Change door access clearance to “Police Officers Only.”
• Turn on blue strobe lights in the corridor outside the initiating classroom and inside all other classrooms in the building.

• When an event or incident causes you to fear for your safety.
• Any time you think, “Should I push it?” JUST PUSH IT.

• This will notify CUPD Dispatch and lock down the building.
• Police officers will be dispatched to the room where the button was pushed.

• If the incident is not in your space, remain where you are. Contact CUPD by calling 303-724-4444 or through the safe zone app.

If the threat is still active in/near your space RUN, HIDE, or FIGHT.

• Run- All the way out of the building
• Hide- If safe, stay where you are, silence your cell phone
• Fight- If able, fight as hard as possible

• The key components include:
• Locking hardware on each entry door set.
• One or more wall-mounted covered panic alarms.
• Ceiling-mounted blue strobe lights outside/inside classrooms.
• Opaque light-permitting laminate over side-light and in-door glass.

Occupants should:

• Run away from the threat if possible.
• Hide if you cannot run.
• Fight as a last resort.
• Know your exits and movement options.
• Communicate with Police when it is safe to do so.

• The blue strobe lights facilitate a coordinated, rapid police response while alerting other building occupants.
• The blue strobe lights outside the room alert and signal the location where the panic alarm has been activated.
• The blue strobe lights inside the classrooms notify occupants that an alarm has been activated in another classroom (s) in that building.
