Staff Council Committees

Campus & Community Engagement

We exist to foster connection and positivity by bringing together employees, staff, and students, supporting the external community, strengthening internal relationships, and creating joyful experiences for all who participate. Past activities include:

  • Park Cleanup Days
  • Volunteer days at Food Bank of the Rockies
  • Winter Clothing Drives
  • Canned Food Drives
  • CU Anschutz Block Party

Professional Development

The Professional Development Committee supports staff growth by providing funding for career-related training opportunities. We also coordinate initiatives such as “Headshots for Hotshots” to promote professional development and visibility.

Staff Appreciation & Employee Recognition

We explore different ways of appreciating staff acknowledging that individuals might have unique preferences for appreciation. We do this by creating and maintaining programs, recognizing staff efforts at a university level, providing platforms/voice for staff to share accomplishments, creating community amongst staff, and rewarding staff for efforts to maintain campus morale/motivation. Past examples include:

  • Employee of the Month
  • Bagel & Coffee Week
  • Burrito Day
  • Ice Cream Social Day

Policy & Advocacy

We work closely with other Staff Council committees for campus networking and engagement events to help promote relevant policy and legislative issues of interest to CU Anschutz staff.

Communications

The Communications Committee partners with the CU Anschutz Communications Department to support all Staff Council sub-committees by sharing best practices and strategic guidance for communications and event promotion. We also help raise awareness of Staff Council initiatives by designing campus pole banners and maintaining updates on this website.

VOICE

Our Purpose is to cultivate a workplace where every staff member feels seen, heard, and valued — across all identities and lived experiences.

What we do:

  • Promote inclusive culture: Host events, campaigns, and conversations that celebrate diversity and build connection.
  • Advocate for equity: Support equitable workplace practices through collaboration and staff feedback.
  • Celebrate cultural moments: Lead initiatives for Juneteenth, Pride, Black History Month, and more.
  • Foster belonging: Create opportunities for staff to build community and share their stories.
