Ride Along with a CU Police Officer or
Observe with an Emergency Communications  Dispatcher

The Ride-Along and Observation programs provide a unique opportunity for members of our campus community members to gain firsthand experience and insight into the daily operations of our department. Whether you're a student, faculty member, or staff member, participating in a ride-along or a dispatch observation allows you to see the responsibilities and challenges faced by our personnel as they work to ensure campus safety and security.

During a ride-along, participants will accompany one of our our certified police officers on their patrol duties.  This may include responding to calls for service, conducting traffic stops, performing campus area checks, and engaging with community members.

Emergency Communications observations offer participants the chance to sit with our Dispatchers to experience the behind-the-scenes duties.  Observers will gain insight into how calls are handled, complaints prioritized and resources coordinated and sent to assist.

Participants in either program will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn about police procedures and protocols, and gain a deeper understanding of law enforcement practices.
