The Center for Bioethics and Humanities is now a national leader in empirical bioethics research addressing important research questions that lie at the intersection of health policy and bioethics.
Research topics that we explore include, but are not limited to, ethical issues associated with: conflicts of interest in medicine, shared decision making, informed consent, methods for engaging patients and other stakeholders, trust/mistrust in medicine, physician professionalism, public health ethics, AI, assessment of value, transplant ethics, genetics, and end of life care.
Topics of special interest in the state of Colorado and at the University recently include those around medical aid in dying and high potency marijuana.
Our world class research faculty explore these topics with funding from federal sources, foundations and individual institutions. Our faculty are expert in qualitative research methods, surveys, secondary data analysis, meta methods and normative analyses. Our total research portfolio is approximately $25 million and growing.
