Empowering Our Community to Resolve Conflict with Integrity and Compassion

Adaptable Resolutions at CU Anschutz

In a diverse and collaborative campus community like CU Anschutz, conflicts naturally arise. Adaptable Resolution (AR), established in Summer of 2023, offers students, faculty, and staff an innovative approach to addressing challenges, fostering justice, and promoting education beyond traditional disciplinary measures. Created with the support of the CU System’s Diversity Initiative and championed by Chancellor Don Elliman and Executive Vice Chancellor Roderick Nairn, AR encourages constructive dialogue and mutual solutions that strengthen relationships and enrich our academic environment.

Led by Will Dewese, Director of Adaptable Resolution, AR is part of the Office of Academic Resources, which also includes the Ombuds Office and the Office of Affirmative Action. AR distinguishes itself by providing unique formal and informal conflict resolution services that differ from those offered by its counterparts. While the Office of Equity ensures compliance with equal opportunity policies and addresses discrimination and harassment concerns, and the Ombuds Office offers confidential, informal support for navigating campus issues, AR focuses on collaborative approaches to resolving conflicts outside of traditional disciplinary processes.

Guided by core values of Respect and Collaboration, AR offers open, fair, and accessible services that foster constructive dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperative solutions. By coordinating efforts with other campus offices, AR empowers individuals to address challenges in ways that strengthen relationships and enhance the campus community.

Whether you’re facing a specific conflict or seeking guidance on resolution options, AR is here to help you explore effective, educational solutions that support a positive and inclusive campus environment.
