About Fiscal Compliance
Fiscal Compliance is responsible for ensuring the University of Colorado Denver| Anschutz Medical Campus adheres to external laws, sponsor regulations, and internal policies and procedures. The team works to promote strong financial management in order to avoid missteps that could have a negative impact for the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus.
The Fiscal Compliance team assesses risk and identifies potential gaps in the campus' internal control framework. We work closely with Schools, Colleges, Administrative units, and other stakeholders to identify solutions to any such gaps.
Fiscal Compliance is a dynamic and ever-evolving team that generally focuses on the following areas:
- Assist in interpreting policy and regulations relevant to University operations.
- Enhance employees’ understanding of fiscal roles and responsibilities.
- Use critical thinking skills, observation, cross-unit collaboration, and key data analysis to support a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor high-risk financial areas and conduct transaction reviews.
- Act as a liaison for both internal and external audits.
- Develop and manage a training catalog of over 25 courses covering sponsored projects, fiscal compliance, and procurement topics.
- Provide support and guidance to University schools, colleges, and programs for external leasing needs and serving as a liaison between the programs and the State's contracted real estate brokers.
- Help schools/colleges/units navigate the fiscal compliance environment in a way that supports their individual operations and mission.
