“There is a resonance between the Holocaust and medicine today, including racial health disparities, managed care and doctors as the stewards of communal resources,” says Center Director Matthew Wynia, MD, MPH. "How do you get physicians to the point where they maintain their ability to do the job and also retain their human compassion, empathy and the ability to form strong bonds with individual patients? I think that’s a balancing act that many of us struggle with throughout our careers.
