Last call will stay at 10 pm in Colorado bars, Denver district court judge Brian Whitney ruled Thursday. A group representing more than 200 bars and restaurants filed suit against the state health department last week, arguing that the curfew was arbitrary and would devastate an already-beleaguered service industry. “The state’s power to regulate its citizen’s health, safety and welfare under our federal system … is vast,” said Daniel Goldberg, a public health ethicist, attorney and CBH faculty. “These lawsuits that crop up — I’m not saying they can’t ever prevail — but they have an uphill battle.” Read article>>
