By utilizing non-driving options to and from the Anschutz Medical Campus, you can help reduce the University’s carbon footprint, save money, and find a more comfortable way to travel.

The following could be used as talking points in a presentation about sustainable transportation initiatives or commuting.

Motivations for Individual Use
  • Active/healthy/enjoyable alternative journeys to campus
  • Financial Incentive
    • Gas/maintenance savings from driving less often
  • Access to RTD transportation when you need it
    • Eco Pass & CollegePass are there as options for moving through the city, and most folks have these benefits included in their tuition or parking pass fees. For example, make sure your Eco Pass is set up so you can take the light rail to the airport for free next time you travel.
Motivations for Campus Promotion
  • Lightens the load on our parking infrastructure
    • If done well at scale, sustainable transportation can eliminate the need for expanded parking (e.g., construction of a new parking garage)
  • Shrinks our Scope 3 Emissions
    • Will become clearer how important our commuter emissions are to our GHG footprint after data analysis
  • Helps us recognize and fill in the gaps so that non-car commuters are safe and comfortable
    • e.g., ensuring that bike parking on campus can accommodate increased popularity of E-bikes.
  • Transportation benefits can be considered part of an employee or faculty compensation package
    • e.g., offering the possibility of remote work as a benefit helps Anschutz recruit and retain the best talent possible

Transit Passes

RTD’s Eco Pass is an employee benefit offered to all staff and faculty at CU Anschutz. This pass gives you unlimited rides on fixed-route bus, commuter rail, and light rail. Eco Pass is accessed via RTD’s MyRide app – simply activate your pass, scan a QR code on your phone when you board, and enjoy the journey.
