Last year, the Colorado Energy Office (COE) awarded CU Anschutz with two grants: the Charge Ahead Colorado Grant and the Fleet-ZERO EV Charging Grant. The $96,000 total awarded will fund projects to increase the number of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on campus.
In June of 2024, the Colorado Energy Office (COE) awarded Anschutz Medical Campus for the Public Building Electrification Grant (PBEG). The University will receive $105,000 to upgrade HVAC and water heating.
CU Anschutz hosted the Colorado Net Zero Campus Forum Exchange at the Anschutz Health Science Building. Organized by the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), these meetings regularly share insights into campus sustainability efforts across Colorado’s academic institutions.

In honor of Earth Day 2024, the CU Anschutz Facilities Management will offer FREE personal* E-waste recycling for all faculty, staff and students. Partnering with Children’s Hospital Colorado and using TechnoRescue, a trusted partner in responsible e-waste recycling, we are happy to offer this FREE service. In addition to providing increased visibility and safety, the parking lot lighting project has helped our campus to reduce our carbon footprint. In total, this lighting project resulted in 477 metal halide fixtures being replaced with LED fixtures and another 10 additional LED fixtures were added where others were not present. The campus saw an increase in efficiency with a reduction of 15,200 watts and a 187% increase in average lumens per fixture.
The President’s Sustainable Solutions Challenge encourages student-led innovation in sustainability on CU campuses. Students with ideas for sustainability innovations on their campus will compete for up to $2500 in cash prizes while gaining experience in leadership, entrepreneurship, and social enterprise.
