You may schedule one or more accommodated tests with ODAI through our ODAI Test Proctoring Form. If you know the dates and times of all your exams at the beginning of the term, you can submit one form for all exams and tests throughout the term.

Once we receive your test requests, we will schedule these on the ODAI Testing calendar and send you and the student a calendar invitation confirming the test date, time, and course information. If we have questions, we will reach out. If you have questions, changes, or information to add, please email testing@cuanschutz.edu prior to the exam.

Thanks for providing extended time for your accommodated students in advance of their exam. We recommend this occurs at least 2 days prior to the exam so the student and you are prepared for any last-minute tech glitches.

Students will notify their individual course directors/faculty when they are approved for accommodations and wish to utilize them. This will come in the form of a Faculty Notification Memo (FNM) drafted by ODAI and emailed from the student to the course director/faculty member.

Students may be approved for an accommodation but may decide not to inform a course director/faculty member because they decide not to disclose this information or feel it is unnecessary to receive accommodations at this time. This is within their rights as a qualified student with a disability, however if they do require the accommodation at some point in the semester and wish to utilize it, the accommodation can only be provided from the moment they inform their course director/faculty moving forward. Accommodations may not be provided retroactively (to previously completed assignments, work, or components of the class before the faculty was notified of an accommodation).

Thank you for your collaboration in supporting students with disabilities. If you observe some learning challenges or access barriers but do not know the origin of the difficulty or that this can be attributed to a disability, it is best to first approach the student with the observations you are noticing. For instance, “I notice that you consistently run out of time and miss the last few test questions on your exams. Has this happened in your previous courses?” This offers an opportunity for the student to either identify that they have a disability and require accommodations, or that they are unsure what might be going on and may need some additional resources.

Depending on their response to your observation, you can either

1. refer the student who discloses that they have a disability and needs accommodation to ODAI to request accommodations through the accommodation process and/or
2. validate that there are some challenges of unknown origin arising for them that may be preventing them from demonstrating their competence and refer them to our office to explore ways to find out what might be going on

You can refer students to us through any of the following methods that feel genuine and supportive in the moment:

2. Encourage the student to email us at disabilityaccess@cuanschutz.edu or call us at 303-742-5640
3. For those who may be hesitant or need additional support, you can email our access coordinators directly and refer to them by name, introduce the student through a warm introduction and hand them off to us
