Campus Phone System – Transition to Microsoft Teams Calling
Feb 20, 2025
Microsoft Teams Calling will streamline communication for the university, allowing you to make and receive calls directly within the Teams app from your computer or mobile device. This means you can stay connected and take important calls whether you're at your desk, hybrid or on the go. The cloud-based phone system integrates with Microsoft Teams, providing more flexible phone services from wherever you are working.
The project team has made significant progress toward modernizing the university’s aging phone system infrastructure. The migration to Microsoft Teams Calling is currently in the pilot phase, and we will begin rollout of the new system at the end of March starting with Jabber soft phone users.
Last year, we surveyed our phone users to better understand your needs and improve our service. Based on your feedback, the project team selected Teams Calling and developed a migration plan for the broader campus community. Moving to Microsoft Teams Calling will address concerns about phone system functionality by providing a more integrated, reliable and user-friendly platform. Additionally, our CU sister campuses have already moved to Teams Calling, and the CU System Office is currently in the transition process, better aligning our work environments.
Visit the CU Anschutz University Phones Update Project webpage for more information about Teams Calling, training resources and future updates on the timeline for department migrations. We appreciate your support as we enhance our phone services and upgrade our campus calling system.
