Academic Technology Services is a department within the Office of Information Technology (OIT) that consults with academic audiences within the institution on their curricular and research technology needs.

Our passion is supporting teaching and learning with technology. We use best practices in teaching with technology to achieve instructional needs. We are here to work along side you and support you in all you do! 

Our catalog of services below provides details regarding the tools, techniques, and services available to faculty, students and staff at CU Denver and CU Anschutz. However, in general, the Academic Technology team can: 

  • Provides administration and support on the use of software in our catalog
  • Collaborates on best practices for teaching with digital tools
  • Partner with key constituents on each campus to ensure high quality technology tools, support and services

Getting Started

Academic Technology Services 

Canvas is a web-based learning management system, or LMS. It is used at CU Denver and CU Anschutz to access and manage online course learning materials, increase student engagement, and promote student success. Every course listed in CU-SIS is provided with a Canvas shell. Enrollments are provisioned automatically and will reflect official rosters.

Panopto is a video hosting solution which makes it easy to record lectures, share engaging videos, and make content accessible for all your students.

Zoom is web conferencing platform. The ability for chat, screen sharing, and groups makes it a strong alternative to in-person learning. 

Respondus is an application that can be used within the Canvas LMS to create a secure testing environment by blocking the use of additional applications including other websites during an exam.    

Turnitin is a software application designed to uphold academic integrity and support the development of original thinking through a robust feedback system. Integrated directly into Canvas, Turnitin allows you to check student work for plagiarism, provide feedback, and improve writing skills. 

Anthology Ally is a content accessibility tool built into Canvas. The tool can be used by faculty to improve the accessibility of their course, or made available to students for on-demand universal design options. 

Namecoach allows for accurate pronunciation to promote respect, inclusion, and belonging. Namecoach is available within Canvas for faculty and students.

Respondus Test Generator is a tool to easily manage and import textbook publisher created quizzes into your Canvas course. The test generator can also take formatted Word documents and import them directly into the Canvas quiz tool. 

Adobe Creative Cloud is a suite of tools for graphic design, video editing, web development, image editing, and includes Adobe Acrobat.
