Work-Study

Learn about employment opportunities to help you pay for college.

Work-Study is awarded by the CU Anschutz Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, making it easier for students with financial need to find a part-time job and earn money to help pay for educational expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient's course of study. Work-Study students must be accepted into a degree program and be enrolled at least half-time. Students can be awarded Federal or State Work-Study. To be eligible for Work-Study all students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Eligibility will be based on information reported on the FAFSA.

Federal Work-Study

Federal Need-based Work-Study – Federal Work-Study is need-based financial aid awarded with Federal funding. To be eligible a student may be a graduate or undergraduate student, and must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.

Colorado State Work-Study

Need and Non-Need-Based Aid

Colorado State Need based Work-Study – Colorado Work-Study is need based aid that is awarded with state funding. To be eligible a student must be an undergraduate with no prior degree, and a Colorado resident. The student must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.

Colorado State Non-Need based Work-Study – Colorado Non-Need Work-Study is awarded without regard to need and funded by the state. To be eligible a student must be an undergraduate with no prior degree, and a Colorado resident. To be eligible the student must complete the FAFSA.

Colorado work-study is funded by the Colorado General Assembly.

How to Apply for Work-Study

Students must complete and submit the Work-Study Request Form​​​ to be placed on a waiting list for funds.

Please Note: If you choose to reduce or cancel ACCEPTED loans to cover this request, you must first contact the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office prior to submitting this form.

REMEMBER: If you were initially awarded Work-Study and have no earnings through this program by October 1st, your award will be cancelled. If you have extenuating circumstances that prevented you from finding employment, please submit a written, signed and dated explanation to the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office before October 1st.
