Electrical and Plumbing Contractor License and Registration Requirements and Verification Process

Requirements

1. All Electrical and Plumbing Contractors with the desire to perform work at the University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus and/or affiliated institutions (University Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado) shall be registered and licensed through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
2. Each electrician or plumber employed by said contractor and performing work at University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus and/or affiliated institutions shall also be licensed through DORA.
3. Per CRS 12 23-110.5 (electrical) and CRS 12-58-117 (plumbing), the Journeyman-to-Apprentice supervision on all projects shall be no more than a one to three ratio.

Verification Process

1. At the time of awarding a contract for a project, the General Contractor will be notified that the Electrical and Plumbing Sub-contractor shall provide a list of names and license numbers for the personnel working on the project. This list will be cross referenced and verified through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) website. Anyone who has not obtained the proper DORA documentation shall not be allowed to preform work on any University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus's or affiliated institution (including University Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado).
2. At the beginning of the construction project, the Electrical or Plumbing Inspector shall be provided with licenses of all Electricians/Plumbers on site.  As the project continues, periodic checks shall be performed until the project is complete. If and when new personnel arrive, it will be the responsibility of the General Contractor, Electrical and Plumbing Sub-contractor to update and provide the Electrical or Plumbing Inspector with the required documentation.
3. If anyone is found without the required license, they shall be removed from the project until sufficient documentation has been provided.
